"Essential Teachings of Reb Zalman" - Series of classes led by Rabbi Hannah

Tuesday, November 8, 2022 - 4:30pm to Thursday, December 8, 2022 - 6:00pm

“Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi (1924 to 2014) was one of the most influential and creative Jewish spiritual teachers of our time. Trained as a Hasidic rabbi within the Chabad-Lubavitch community, he became one of the great teachers and translators of the Jewish mystical tradition. Weaving together strands of Hasidism and Kabbalah with teachings from a wide range of other religious and wisdom traditions, he created the Jewish Renewal Movement, seeking to infuse contemporary Jewish life with greater spiritual depth through increased attention to contemplative and embodied practice along with joyous service to God.” (from the back cover of the book we’ll be using)

Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi: Essential Teachings, edited by Rabbi Or N. Rose and Netanel Miles-Yepez, is a rich compilation of the treasury of Reb Zalman’s writings.

This class will focus on chapters from the book and will also include selections of videos and meditations by Reb Zalman. Rabbi Or N. Rose will be a guest speaker during one of our classes. Please read Chapter One, “Our Changing Relationship with God,” prior to our first class.

All classes in this series will be on Zoom, on Thursdays, 4:30-6 pm.
